The Sanibel Soap Story
Ten years ago, my husband was suffering from red, irritated skin. So irritated, that I was applying Aloe Gel to his back twice a day! And I realized there must be a cause of the problem. I began to research what could be causing such a severe case of dermatitis.
What an eye-opener! The bar of “soap” available in your grocery store is a cocktail of detergents, solvents and other chemicals. Alternatively, traditional soap had no detergents or solvents. This soap preserved to natural mantle of oils that protect skin from bacteria and other environmental threats. I began to read labels and research what ingredients were in the basic products we used in our home.
I began with the soap he used in his daily shower. I began to use unscented soap in our home. The traditional soap calmed the skin irritation and returned his skin to normal. It has been 10 years since I began creating vegetable oil soap without detergents, petroleum products and solvents. And, except for our Goat’s Milk soap, Sanibel Soap is vegan, too.
Sanibel Soap Co. began in 2009 as Sanibel Naturals, and in 2019, re-named itself the Sanibel Soap Co. We create vegan palm product free soap, scrubs and shower gel. (The exception is our Goat’s Milk soap.) Our products are paraben, sulfate, phthalate, phosphate, microbead & gluten free.Cruelty free and are tested on humans.
We are deeply committed to the environment, clean water, animal habitat preservation and ending the deforestation of Asia and South America to clear land for palm oil production.
